Selavo offers breathwork, guided meditation, and contemplative practices rooted in scripture and Christian tradition. The app, its audio content, written material, and any related communications (together, the “Service”) are provided for general informational, educational, and spiritual purposes only.

The Service is not medical advice, diagnosis, therapy, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or pastoral care. Selavo is not a healthcare provider. No relationship of doctor and patient, therapist and client, or clergy and parishioner is created by your use of the Service.

Consult a professional

Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any breathing exercise, meditation routine, fasting practice, or other regimen presented in the Service — especially if you are pregnant or nursing, have a history of cardiovascular disease, high or low blood pressure, asthma or other respiratory conditions, epilepsy or a seizure disorder, glaucoma, recent surgery, or any psychiatric condition including panic disorder, PTSD, dissociative disorders, or psychosis.

Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read, heard, or experienced through Selavo. If you think you may be having a medical or mental health emergency, stop the session immediately and contact your local emergency services.

About breathwork specifically

Intentional breathing techniques — including paced breathing, breath holds, and faster or deeper-than-normal breathing — can produce significant physiological and psychological effects. These may include lightheadedness, dizziness, tingling sensations, muscle tension, changes in heart rate or blood pressure, ringing in the ears, visual changes, emotional release, intense memories, and, in rare cases, fainting.

Practice in a safe place. Never do breathwork while driving, operating machinery, swimming, bathing, standing near hazards, or in any setting where a loss of consciousness or coordination could cause harm to you or others. If at any point you feel unwell, stop, breathe normally, and rest until your symptoms resolve. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Spiritual content is not therapy

Selavo’s sessions weave scripture, prayer, and contemplative tradition into breathwork and meditation. While many users find these practices spiritually and emotionally meaningful, they are not psychotherapy, spiritual direction, or pastoral counseling. If you are working through trauma, grief, addiction, or another significant mental or spiritual concern, please reach out to a qualified clinician and to a trusted member of your faith community.

Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for your use of the Service and for evaluating whether any particular session, breath pattern, or recommendation is appropriate for you. By using Selavo you acknowledge and agree that you assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damages, known or unknown, that may arise from your use of the Service.

No warranty · No liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Selavo, Rethinkerei, and our contributors, instructors, and licensors disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including without limitation any warranty that the Service is accurate, reliable, complete, current, or suitable for any particular purpose. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Service.
