Terms of Service

Selavo is a Christian breathwork and meditation app built by Rethinkerei (“Selavo,” “we,” “us”). These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the Selavo mobile app and the website at selavo.app (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data, and our Health Disclaimer explains the physical nature of breathwork. Please read both alongside these Terms.

Who can use Selavo

You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required for consent to data processing where you live (for example 14 in Austria and up to 16 in parts of the EU), to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet these requirements or that your parent or legal guardian has agreed to these Terms for you.

Your account

You need an account to use Selavo. Keep your sign-in credentials confidential and let us know right away at hey@selavo.app if you suspect someone else is using your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms.

You can delete your account at any time from the profile screen in the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone; see our Privacy Policy for how associated data is removed.

Selavo Premium subscriptions

A selection of sessions is free to play. Full access to all sessions and breath patterns requires Selavo Premium, an auto-renewing subscription purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play (each, the “Store”).

• The price and billing period are shown in the app before you subscribe. Payment is charged to your Store account at confirmation of purchase.
• Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel it anytime in your Store account settings; deleting the app or your Selavo account does not cancel the subscription.
• If we offer a free trial or introductory price, its terms are shown before you subscribe. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts automatically at the regular price.
• Purchases, billing, and refunds are handled by the Store under its own terms. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, please request it through the Store; we cannot process Store payments ourselves.
• If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, any statutory right of withdrawal applies to your purchase from the Store and is exercised through the Store’s own process; the Store explains at the point of purchase how the right applies and when it expires.
• If prices change, the new price applies from your next billing period at the earliest, and the Store will notify you in advance as required. The free selection of sessions and the content included in Premium may change over time.

Your license to use the Service

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app and stream its content for your own private, non-commercial practice. You may not copy, record, download (except through features we provide), redistribute, publicly perform, sell, rent, or make the content available to others; scrape or data-mine the Service, including for training machine-learning models; work around technical limitations; or reverse engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it.

All content in the Service, including audio sessions, music, scripts, voice recordings, artwork, and software, belongs to Rethinkerei or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. Scripture quotations are used under the terms of their respective translations. The Selavo name and logo are trademarks of Rethinkerei. Some guides use AI-enhanced voice narration; they are marked in the app.

If you send us feedback or suggestions, you agree we may use them without restriction or compensation.

Your content

You can add a display name and profile photo. You must have the rights to anything you upload, and it must not be unlawful, offensive, or infringe anyone else’s rights. You grant us the license needed to host and display it as part of operating the Service. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

Health, safety, and spiritual care

Breathwork is a physical practice. It can involve faster or deeper breathing and breath holds, which may cause dizziness, tingling, or, in rare cases, fainting. Practice in a safe place: never while driving, operating machinery, standing, or in or near water. Stop immediately if you feel unwell. If you are pregnant, or have a cardiovascular or respiratory condition, epilepsy, a history of fainting, a panic disorder, or any other condition that breathing exercises could affect, talk to a doctor before using Selavo.

Selavo offers spiritual practice, not medical care. The Service does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health care or for pastoral counseling. Please read the full Health Disclaimer, which is part of these Terms.

If you connect Apple Health, Selavo only writes completed sessions as Mindful Minutes. This is optional, and you can disconnect it at any time in your device settings.

Acceptable use

When using the Service, you agree not to:

• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law.
• Share your account or access someone else’s account.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, probe its security, or access it by automated means.
• Circumvent subscription checks or content protection.
• Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.
• Resell the Service or use it to build a competing product.

Availability and changes

Selavo is a young, evolving product. We add, change, and remove features and content, and we may need you to update the app to keep using it. We work hard to keep the Service available but cannot guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Sessions stream from our servers, so most features require an internet connection.

Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, where we reasonably believe it is necessary to protect the Service or other users, or if we discontinue the Service; where practicable, we will give you reasonable notice. Any active subscription remains governed by the Store’s cancellation and refund rules. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including licenses you granted us, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) survive.

Warranty and liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law, including statutory warranty rights for digital content in the EU. Beyond those rights, and to the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” without further warranties.

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, and under mandatory product-liability law. For slight negligence, we are liable only for breach of essential contractual duties and only up to the damage that was foreseeable and typical at the time of contracting. Otherwise, our liability for slight negligence is excluded.

Apple App Store terms

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, the following also applies: these Terms are an agreement between you and Rethinkerei, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. The license granted to you is limited to a non-transferable license to use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the app may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the app; Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, regulatory claims, claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws (including in connection with the app’s use of the HealthKit framework), or third-party claims that the app infringes intellectual property rights. When using the app you must also comply with any applicable third-party terms, such as your wireless data service agreement. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo or designated by the U.S. government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Austrian law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of the country where you live, and any statutory rules on where you can sue or be sued remain unaffected.

If you have a problem, please contact us first at hey@selavo.app and we will do our best to resolve it. We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms for valid reasons, such as changes in law, new or changed features, or security needs. For changes that are not purely to your benefit, we will notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, and we will update the “Last updated” date above. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using the Service and cancel any subscription before the change takes effect; continuing to use the Service after that date means the updated Terms apply.
