What Selavo is

A phone showing a breath session with a glowing orb

Breathwork

Box breathing, 4-7-8, and patterns shaped for the body and the spirit. Each session paced by a breath cue that lets you set the room down.

A phone showing a scripture-focused session

Scripture

Psalms, gospels, and the desert fathers ’ read aloud, set into stillness. Scripture as anchor, not assignment.

A phone showing a music-led session player

Music

Original scores written for this kind of attention. Music that breathes with you and doesn’t compete for your prayer.

How Selavo works

Choose your moment

Morning quiet, an anxious midday pause, or a wind-down for sleep. Pick a session by length, breath pattern, or the scripture you need today.

Breathe with the guide

A guide paces every inhale, hold, and exhale and anchors each breath in the Word. Original music carries you; nothing competes with your prayer.

Close in stillness

End with a quiet moment and a verse to carry into your day. Sessions are saved to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes, and gentle reminders help the practice take root.

Why we built this

“We tried every meditation app. None of them prayed. So we built one that does — for Christians who want stillness, not silence.”

— Simon Reisinger, Founder

What alpha testers say

I’ve never been able to sit still in prayer before. The breath cues are the bridge I needed.

J., alpha tester

It’s the first meditation app that doesn’t feel like I’m being asked to forget I’m a Christian.

M., alpha tester

My evenings start to settle the moment I open it. I haven’t reached for my phone after dinner in two weeks.

Questions, answered

What is Christian breathwork?

Christian breathwork pairs slow, guided breathing with scripture, prayer, and music, so your body calms while your attention turns to God. It draws on practices Christians have used for centuries, from the Psalms to the desert fathers. Selavo guides you through it one breath at a time. Learn more

Is breathwork biblical, or is it New Age?

It is a fair question, and we take it seriously. Scripture speaks of breath from the very beginning, when God breathes life into Adam, and Christians have prayed with their breath since at least the 4th century. Selavo's sessions are rooted in the Bible and Christian tradition, not eastern mysticism. Learn more

What is a breath prayer?

A breath prayer is a short line of scripture or prayer joined to your breathing, like praying 'The Lord is my shepherd' as you inhale and 'I shall not want' as you exhale. It is one of the oldest Christian prayer practices. Every Selavo session is built around it. Learn more

Can Christians meditate?

Yes. The Bible itself invites us to meditate on God's Word day and night. Christian meditation fills the mind with scripture rather than emptying it, and that difference matters. Selavo keeps every session anchored in the Bible. Learn more

Can breathwork really help with anxiety?

Slow breathing calms your nervous system; that is simply how God made our bodies. When you pair it with scripture, your body settles while your heart remembers who holds you. Selavo has short guided sessions made for anxious moments. Learn more

Can Selavo help me fall asleep?

Yes. Selavo's sleep wind-downs combine slow breathing, Psalms, and quiet original music to help you let go of the day. Many draw on Compline, the church's ancient night prayer before bed. Learn more

How is Selavo different from Hallow, Abide, or Calm?

Selavo is breathwork-first: energetic, music-driven sessions where scripture is prayed with the breath, not just read aloud. It is made for followers of Jesus across traditions, whether you are Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, or still exploring. If you already love another app, Selavo can sit alongside it. Learn more

Is Selavo Catholic, Protestant, or Orthodox?

Selavo is for followers of Jesus across traditions. Our sessions draw from the whole church's treasury: the Psalms, the gospels, the desert fathers, and night prayers like Compline. Whatever your background, you are welcome here. Learn more

“In the morning, while it was still very dark, he got up and went out to a deserted place, and there he prayed.”
